Reintroduction of Comprehensive Paid Family and Medical Leave Legislation – The FAMILY Act

On Wednesday, May 17, congresspeople from the House and the Senate convened on Capitol Hill to announce the reintroduction of the FAMILY (Family and Medical Insurance Leave) Act, a comprehensive paid family and medical leave bill.

This legislation aims to bring the United States in line with the rest of the world, as the country currently lacks a national policy for paid family and medical leave.

The bill, championed by Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, has garnered support from 41 senators and 80 representatives.

Representative DeLauro expressed determination in getting this bill passed, stating, ‘We do not take no for an answer.

The time is now to do this.’.
